On Friday April 17, the STEM Careers Exploration Program hosted speakers from the National Weather Service and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in a packed JHS Small Recital Hall.
Jason Runyen, Warning Coordination Meteorologist and 94’ Rocket provided students with an overview of careers with the service and specific training requirements. The Kerrville flood last July was discussed, and response protocol reviewed and critiqued.
Kathleen Stuman, Bexar County Game Warden provided students with a summary of careers across the 13 divisions (i.e. State Parks, Fisheries, Wildlife, Natural Resources) with the TPWD. The department has a longstanding reputation for high retention rates, making it an excellent career objective for Judson students.
