Thanks to EssilorLuxottica, their Foundation OneSight, and the local Birdies for Better Sight, students at Candlewood will be seeing their schoolwork, and their world, more clearly. Students who didn’t pass their routine vision screening were given eye exams, picked out frames, and in just a few days will receive glasses - all for free.
Each year, the EssilorLuxottica Foundation adopts a campus in the San Antonio area to give the gift of glasses to students who need them. Tito Cubriel, District Sales Manager at EssilorLuxottica in conjunction with the local Birdies for Better Sight chapter, organizes the events with local doctors who generously close their practices for the day to provide vision screenings.
“Sometimes kids this young don’t even know they aren’t seeing the way they’re supposed to. They don’t know they can see better. That’s why we’re here,” Cubriel explained.
Principal Rachelle Diaz is grateful for what this means for her students.
“I’m so thankful for the care and generosity shown to our students. This gift of vision will have a lasting impact, not just in the classroom, but in their confidence and daily lives,” she said.
Judson ISD would like to thank EssilorLuxottica, their Foundation, Dr. Medina, and Dr. Quillin for helping our students in such a meaningful way.
